La Leona Waterfalls Tour
La Leona Waterfall tour is an adventure hike that combines hiking and swimming to reach La Leona Waterfall. Along the way you will go through 4 different river crossings, go up small ladders, hike through caves and canyons, until at the very end we have to swim with the help of a rope through the last canyon and get inside a massive cave where we can swim in La Leona Waterfall

Tour Itinerary
- Arrival and Introduction Your journey begins at the designated meeting point, where you’ll be greeted by your knowledgeable and friendly guide. The guide will provide a safety briefing, overview of the hike, and an introduction to the area’s history, geology, and wildlife.
- The Hike to La Leona
- Trail Description: The hike is approximately 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) each way. You’ll follow a trail that winds through a pristine jungle, crossing rivers and natural rock paths. The terrain varies from flat and sandy stretches to steeper climbs, making it an engaging trek.
- Wildlife Spotting: As you hike, your guide will point out local wildlife such as toucans, howler monkeys, iguanas, and tropical insects. This area is rich in biodiversity, offering plenty of chances to see Costa Rica’s natural wonders up close.
- Arrival at the Waterfalls
- The Gorge Experience: To reach the falls, you’ll navigate a narrow canyon with turquoise waters. The path involves wading through streams, climbing over rocks, and even a few light scrambles—perfect for adventurers looking for a bit of excitement.
- The Waterfall Pool: La Leona Waterfalls itself is a stunning cascade surrounded by dramatic rock formations. You can swim in the cool, crystal-clear pool at the base of the falls, relax on the rocks, or simply enjoy the view. The turquoise water and mist from the falls make this a serene and magical spot.
- Return Journey After spending time at the waterfall, you’ll hike back along the same scenic trail, with opportunities for additional photos and wildlife sightings.
- Wrap-Up and Farewell Back at the meeting point, enjoy some refreshments (optional) and reflect on your adventure. Many tours offer fresh fruit or snacks, allowing you to recharge before departing.
